Custom Designs
Here's your chance to get your own, personal CDr or DVD printed with your design.
It's very easy. Just download our Adobe Illustrator template (link on left side), put your art in the layer called "your art," and send it back to us.
Before you send it, be sure to convert the fonts to "outline" so we can open the file properly.
There are many examples below. Some were designed by us (the ones with an *), and all the others were designed by the client.
Just a few things to keep in mind when you create your art...
1) Colors
Solid (spot) PMS colors are best. In almost every case, a white flood* is recommended (and usually required) as a base to insure the colors above it print clean and crisp, since inks are transparent. This white counts as one of the colors you choose for your design.
* "white flood" means printing the disc with a base of white (like a primer).
If you have a design that includes areas that reveal the silver of the disc, then this is not technically a "white flood" (since it does not cover the entire disc). You still need the white below the colors, but be be sure to knock out the areas where you want the silver to show through. Some of our printed designs that take advantage of this effect are: Silver Globe, Dot Arrow, and Equalizer. Some of the custom CDs (below) that we've designed that employ this technique include 37signals and Elevation.
2) Photos and Artwork
You technically can do a design that contains a photo or artwork, but keep in mind that this requires the disc to be printed in 4-color process, which introduces a slight dot pattern. This also requires a fifth color (the white flood mentioned above).
If you do this, please be sure that you send us a hi-res file. No JPEGs.

The maximum for custom printing is 6 colors.
The film price is $25 per color.
This price includes the set up fee, media, pdf proof, and screen printing. The turn around is 2 weeks from the time we receive the final art work.
Any change of order (i.e. submitting new artwork after a pdf proof is sent) will cost $100 each occurrence.
Art check discs (hard copy proofs) are available upon request; prices range from $250-$400.

Standard turnaround time is 7-10 working days. Rush turns may be available upon request.
Master source must be delivered on a CDR in a pre-mastered image (replication only); receipt of source and film constitutes day zero.
All orders are subject to +/- 10% over/under runs on volume, billable to customer.
